Rental FAQs
No, not all books can be rented. Currently there nearly 200 titles available, and the Bookstore works to add more to the list each quarter. Books that can be rented are identified with a "Rent Me" or "Rent or Buy" sticker in the store, and have rental pricing options when available on-line.
We make it easy - bring your college or government issued picture ID, your current class schedule, a valid email address and your credit card to the Bookstore with you.
Be sure you thoroughly review the RENTAL AGREEMENT TERMS before you rent.
Yes. To rent from the store you must provide a valid credit card ("Higher One" not allowed) in order to guarantee your tender. You can pay for your rental/purchase via any of our convenient payment methods... cash, check, credit card or gift card - but your credit card is required to guarantee the tender for replacement charges, plus tax should you fail to meet the rental agreement.
This term refers to the credit card provided by the renter, to be charged should you fail to meet the RENTAL AGREEMENT TERMS i.e. miss the rental return deadline or the rental is returned damaged and not in re-rentable condition, etc.
To avoid replacement charges, rented items must be returned to the store by 4:00pm on the last business day of finals week. Check Bookstore HOURS OF OPERATION. Rentals not returned on time will be billed replacement price(s) to the guarantee tender credit card used at time of rental.
Be sure you return all rentals - no later than 4:00pm, by the last business day of finals week. Keep your rentals in good condition and bring them to the Bookstore to complete your return transaction at the register.
Returning your rentals is easy with two convenient options. You can return your rental(s) in person at the bookstore, or send a trusted friend of family member.
If you prefer to ship your rental(s) back to the store, be sure to do so by the return deadline, no later than 4:00pm the Friday of Finals Week. Rentals that do not meet this deadline will be billed replacement price(s) to the guarantee tender credit card used at time of rental. So don't be late sending your rentals back or bringing the rental(s) to the bookstore to guarantee you meet the deadline! We recommend UPS or FedEx for tracking services and don't forget to consider insurance.
Rental(s) must be received in store by the deadline, in order to avoid additional charges. If you miss the deadline, the credit card provided as "guarantee tender" will be charged the replacement price(s). These charges are non-refundable and you will own the item(s).
If your "guarantee tender" is declined upon processing your rental(s) not returned by the deadline, we will send you an e-mail (to the e-mail address we have on file) with the balance due. If the balance due is not paid in full by designated date, you will incur fees and your case will be forwarded to collections. You will also be responsible for any additinal fees incurred by the collection agency.
Yes! If you drop your class within the first 2 weeks of the quarter, the return policy for textbook purchases also applies to textbook rentals. Click here to read our RETURN POLICY

All replacement costs & fees are subject to collections if not promptly resolved.
In order to maintain good rental book condition for the next student, we recommend that you use page markers and Post-It notes to mark important information. At the end of the quarter these must be removed prior to returning your rental(s).
