Textbook Rental FAQs


Are all textbooks at the Clark College Bookstore available to rent?

No, not all books can be rented. Currently there more than 11 titles available, and the Bookstore works with instructional departments on campus to add more to the list each quarter.

Can students highlight pages in their rental book?

In order to maintain good rental book condition for the next student, we recommend using page markers and Post-It notes to mark important information. At the end of the quarter these must be removed to minimize distractions for the next student who rents the book.

When are rented books due back?

To avoid a late fee ($10/day), rented textbooks must be returned to the store by 4:00pm on the last business day of finals week. Check Bookstore HOURS OF OPERATION.

If I drop the class, can I return the book and get my rental fee refunded?

Yes! If you drop your class within the first 2 weeks of the quarter, the return policy for textbook purchases also applies to textbook rentals. Click here to read our RETURN POLICY

What happens if my book is lost or stolen?

First, report your lost or stolen book immediately to Clark College Security (992-2133) and to the Bookstore. If the book does not show up, you are responsible for purchasing a replacement book by the due date. The amount owed is the full replacement price of a new book. This expense is in addition to the rental fee and possible late fees if not promptly resolved, so be careful and treat your rental book like your own.
